
Phoenix Motorcars presented its newly configured Sports Utility Truck at the FedFleet 2010 Conference in Phoenix, Arizona on July 13-15, 2010. Phoenix Motorcars’ advanced battery-electric, zero-emission Sports Utility Truck can travel at freeway speeds while carrying four passengers and a full payload. Providing solutions geared towards today’s fleet operators, Phoenix Motorcars offers a 70 mile range pack with deliveries later this year. An extended 100 mile range pack option will be available for delivery in 2011. Each solution is equipped with lithium batteries. Phoenix Motorcars will shortly begin production making initial deliveries in late 2010. Initial vehicles will be included in demonstration programs, such as those previously announced in Hawaii, and fleet operations in various locations, including California.

As the release of the 2011 CR-Z Sport Hybrid nears, many of you are wondering what this car is like to drive as well as how much it will cost. Honda recently announced the CR-Z would start at $19,200 (MSRP excluding tax, license, registration, $750.00 destination charge and options. Dealer prices may vary). Add in destination and handling charges and the sport hybrid will still be under $20,000. And while you patiently await your first CR-Z test drive, you can read early driving impressions from two well-known and respected car gurus—James Bell and RJ de Vera. They borrowed the keys to an early production CR-Z and drove it in real-world situations—not inside a lab or on a perfectly prepared test track.

Porsche will introduce the next-generation Cayenne sport utility vehicle, including a hybrid gas-electric version, to the North American market on March 31 during a press conference at the New York International Automobile Show. The North American Cayenne model range will include four models: the 2011 Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo and the Cayenne S Hybrid. The S and Turbo models go on sale in July, with the Cayenne and Cayenne S Hybrid in dealer showrooms this fall. All the new Cayenne models embody the Porsche Intelligent Performance philosophy, the evolution of vehicles sportier than their predecessors, yet more fuel and emissions efficient.

Inspired by its 2CV, the Citroen’s plug-in REVOLTe hybrid concept car was showed at the Frankfurt Motorshow. Measuring 3.68m long, 1.73m wide and 1.35m tall, the REVOLTe comes with three-seater layout – driver’s seat to one side with sofa behind it. Utilizing environmentally responsible technology, REVOLTe’s re-chargeable hybrid power-train features a small-capacity conventional combustion engine combined with an electric motor and a battery re-charging function. It also offers the option of CO2-free driving and capable of running in all-electric ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) mode.

Offering a full-hybrid concept, the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show this month. The 2+2-seater concept car is powered by a three-cylinder turbodiesel and two electric motors. Overall system output is 262 kW/356 hp, maximum torque 800 Newton-metres/590 lb-ft. All-wheel drive featuring an electric motor on both the front and rear axle.

The hybid version of Lamborghini Gillardo is expected to hit consumers in 2015. Just like Toyota Prius, the Lamborghini hybrid will use electric motor to propel the car fully at slow speeds, but at higher speed the traditional Lambo 10- or 12-cylinder gasoline engine will be used.
